Designing, Making, Wrapping, and Shooting!
With about 3 weeks left in prepping for holiday sales on and offline, streamlining my work and staying on track is quite important. Hence, I have broken down my day into 4 main categories of work:
Designing:
I designed several different types of ornaments. Snowflakes, baby onesies, pet ornaments & heart-shaped ornaments.
Once I’m done with designing, I can then take it to the epilog laser.
Making:
I used two different types of materials to make the ornaments. A clear see through acrylic and a mirror acrylic. The laser engraves and cuts the design out. Depending on how intricate the design, cutting a sheet may take over an hour for the entire process.
I captured a video but it’s too large to post here. But you can watch the video on Youtube here. It’s of a trophy I was making for halloween so it was less intricate than the snowflakes and took a lot less time.
Wrapping:
I have a poly-tubing heat sealer so I’ve been using that to package my ornaments. Since removing the protective layer takes a long time and once it’s done, I don’t want to get more fingerprints on them, I opt-in to wrap them up nicely.
Shooting my products:
Last but not least.. this is one of the more important final touches to product placement. Taking great photos! I’m going to say that I definitely have a lot of room for improvement because neither am I a photographer, have a great lit place to showcase my products and I lack consistent backgrounds when I take photos.
So, I hope to improve in my photography skills next year… but until then, PHOTOS!
I show case my photos on my Facebook page here.
My Flickr page here.
My Etsy pages & Twitter account also showcase my photos. Homepage and side bar will take you there.
